INTERNATIONAL LEGAL MATTERS
OUR ADVANTAGE: OUR NETWORKS AROUND THE WORLD
Wellstein Mora Rodriguez International (WMR) has an international network of correspondents. Apart from Latin America where our firm has expertise and a recognized network, our Montreal firm in particular has developed contacts with the French speaking world.
Our francophone correspondents are therefore present in the following countries in Europe:
- United Kingdom
- Also in Africa, the Indian Ocean and in China.
OUR INTERVENTION MEANS: COORDINATION AND STRATEGIC DIRECTION
In order to simplify and centralize mandates and research, our team coordinates from Montreal its network of intervenors throughout the world.
WMR is also in a position to accomplish its mission of coordination and strategic direction in order to accomplish the following:
- The negotiation of contracts
- The validation of contractual clauses in a foreign jurisdiction
- The representation of parties in litigation
- The carrying out of investigations
- The recognition and enforcement of foreign contracts or foreign judgements.
The knowledge and understanding of many juridical systems permits the lawyers at WMR to obtain a global vision of questions submitted to them in order to obtain solutions which are both relevant and cost effective.
Thus, for example, the preliminary review of a contract in English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese will permit us to identify, for example, a tax issue or a problem of jurisdiction or applicable law. This allows us to better instruct local counsel in order to obtain the relevant answers and advice for our clients..
In litigation files, the lawyers at WMR coordinate the interventions of their corresponding attorneys in order to do the following:
- Define the best global legal strategy
- Verify the coherence of various legal acts made in different jurisdictions
- Assure the recognition and execution of foreign judgements.
The lawyers at WMR have coordinated procedures or verified legal situations with respect to litigation or contractual matters in Europe (Spain, France, UK), in the Caribbean (Guadeloupe, Martinique, St-Martin, Panama), in the United States, in many Latin American countries, in Hong Kong and in Ghana. From Canada, WMR is able to have a global vision of a litigious situation especially when questions are raised concerning the competence of foreign jurisdictions. In contractual matters, the lawyers of WMR will revise and adapt contracts originating in Quebec in order to make them valid and applicable in other countries.
